FORTH is the governance token for the Ampleforth protocol, launched in April 2021. The Ampleforth protocol itself is an algorithmic stablecoin system that aims to create a non-collateralized stable cryptocurrency (AMPL) through supply adjustments based on demand.
Intended Utility
FORTH tokens grant holders voting rights over the Ampleforth protocol's development and parameters. Token holders can propose and vote on changes to the protocol, including adjustments to the supply elasticity mechanism, oracle configurations, and protocol upgrades.
Actual Utility Assessment
The token demonstrates genuine governance utility with active participation in protocol decisions. According to on-chain data, FORTH holders actively participate in governance proposals and voting. The Ampleforth DAO maintains regular governance activities with proposals being discussed and implemented.
Token Distribution Analysis
Initial token distribution allocated 67.5% to the community, 21% to the team and advisors (with 4-year vesting), and 11.5% to the ecosystem fund. The distribution model includes reasonable vesting periods for team allocations, indicating commitment to long-term development.
