BONE is the governance token of the ShibaSwap decentralized exchange (DEX), launched in 2021. It serves as the primary governance mechanism for the ShibaSwap ecosystem, allowing holders to vote on proposals and participate in decision-making processes.
Intended Utility
The primary intended purposes of BONE are: governance rights in the ShibaSwap DAO, gas token for the upcoming Shibarium Layer-2 network, and trading pair facilitator on ShibaSwap DEX. The token has a maximum supply of 250 million.
Actual Utility Assessment
Current usage aligns substantially with intended utility, particularly in governance voting and DEX trading pairs. The token has gained additional utility as the planned gas token for Shibarium, which launched its beta version in 2023.
