Braintrust
Crypto Overview
Understanding the Intended Utility
Braintrust (BTRST) is a decentralized talent network that connects knowledge workers with organizations needing their skills. The BTRST token serves as a governance and incentive mechanism within the platform. The protocol aims to create a user-owned talent network where freelancers keep 100% of their earnings while clients pay lower fees compared to traditional platforms.
Business Model and Actual Implementation
The platform operates as a Web3 talent marketplace where the BTRST token enables governance voting rights and rewards for network contributors. Token holders can participate in decision-making regarding platform development, fee structures, and network rules. Contributors earn tokens for referring new clients or talent, vetting freelancers, and helping grow the network.
Real World Adoption and Usage
Braintrust has demonstrated significant real-world adoption with major enterprise clients including NASA, Nike, Deloitte, Porsche, and Goldman Sachs using the platform. The network has processed millions in talent payments and maintains active development with regular platform updates.
Token Distribution and Governance
The token distribution shows a balanced allocation: 45% to the community treasury for rewards, 25% to early contributors and team (with 4-year vesting), 20% to investors (with vesting), and 10% for platform operations. This structure indicates a long-term focus rather than short-term enrichment.
Revenue Model
The platform charges clients a flat 10% fee on transactions, significantly lower than traditional talent platforms' 20-30% fees. Freelancers keep 100% of their earnings. Revenue is used for platform development and community rewards, avoiding interest-based mechanisms.
