Cortex
Crypto Overview
Project Overview
Cortex is a blockchain platform designed to execute AI algorithms and smart contracts on-chain. The project aims to combine artificial intelligence capabilities with blockchain technology, allowing developers to integrate AI models into decentralized applications (dApps).
Intended Utility
The CTXC token serves multiple purposes within the Cortex ecosystem: It acts as a means of payment for computational resources, enables participation in network governance, and rewards node operators who provide AI inference computing power to the network.
Actual Utility and Adoption
The project has shown limited real-world adoption since its launch in 2018. While the technology appears innovative, the practical implementation and usage of AI capabilities on-chain has been minimal. Developer activity on the platform has been sporadic, with few significant updates in recent periods.
Token Distribution and Governance
Initial token distribution allocated 40% to the founding team and early investors, with vesting periods implemented. The remaining 60% was distributed through mining rewards and ecosystem development. Current token distribution shows significant concentration among large holders.
Technology Implementation
The platform uses a modified Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism called 'Proof of AI' where miners must perform both traditional hash computations and AI inference tasks. This approach appears technically sound and aligned with Islamic principles as it provides actual utility and involves real work.
