e-Gulden (EFL) is a Dutch cryptocurrency launched in 2014 with the stated purpose of creating a digital version of the Dutch Guilder. The project aimed to provide a decentralized payment system specifically for the Dutch market.
Purpose and Utility
The intended purpose of e-Gulden was to serve as a medium of exchange and store of value focused on the Netherlands market. However, research shows very limited recent development activity or adoption.
Business Model Analysis
The project operates on a basic proof-of-work consensus mechanism, similar to Bitcoin. There are no apparent elements in its design or operation that would conflict with Islamic principles. The project does not involve interest-bearing mechanisms, gambling features, or other prohibited activities.
