Overview

Edgeware is a WASM-based smart contract platform built using Substrate framework. It aims to be a next-generation blockchain platform focused on on-chain governance and developer tooling.

Purpose and Utility

The primary purpose of EDG tokens is to facilitate governance and staking on the Edgeware network. Token holders can participate in on-chain governance decisions and can stake their tokens to help secure the network through Nominated Proof of Stake (NPoS) consensus.

Business Model Assessment

The project's core functionalities revolve around legitimate blockchain infrastructure development, smart contract deployment, and decentralized governance. These activities align with halal principles as they involve real utility and value creation.

Development Activity

While Edgeware has seen periods of active development, recent activity has been minimal. The project maintains open-source repositories but development momentum has slowed considerably since 2022.
