Purpose and Utility
Holo (HOT) is the token for the Holochain ecosystem, which aims to create a more distributed and user-controlled internet infrastructure. The project's primary purpose is to enable distributed hosting of applications without traditional blockchain limitations. HoloFuel, which HOT tokens will eventually be redeemable for, is designed to compensate hosts for providing computing resources to the network.
Business Model Evaluation
The business model focuses on providing distributed computing and hosting services, which is inherently halal as it involves the exchange of real computing resources for compensation. The platform does not facilitate any inherently prohibited activities like interest-based lending or gambling.
Real-World Adoption
While still in development, Holochain has established partnerships with several organizations and continues to build its ecosystem. The project maintains active development and has released multiple updates to its testnet. Current usage primarily revolves around development and testing, as the mainnet is not yet fully launched.
