Intended Utility
RARI is the governance token of Rarible, a decentralized NFT marketplace protocol launched in 2020. The token's primary purpose is to enable community governance of the Rarible protocol, where holders can vote on platform updates, fee structures, and other protocol decisions. Additionally, RARI serves as a rewards mechanism for platform participants who actively create, buy, and sell NFTs on the platform.
Business Model Analysis
Rarible operates as a decentralized NFT marketplace where users can mint, buy, and sell digital assets. The platform generates revenue through transaction fees, which are partially distributed to RARI token holders who participate in governance. The business model is transparent and primarily focused on facilitating legitimate digital asset trading.
Actual Utility Assessment
The platform has demonstrated real-world adoption with significant trading volume and active users. The Rarible protocol has integrated with multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow, expanding its utility. On-chain data shows consistent governance participation and trading activity, though at lower levels compared to peak periods in 2021.
Token Distribution and Governance
The initial token distribution allocated 30% to the team and advisors with a 4-year vesting period, 60% to marketplace liquidity mining and ecosystem development, and 10% for protocol treasury. This distribution model shows reasonable alignment with long-term project success rather than short-term enrichment.
