Request
Crypto Overview
Overview
Request (REQ) is a decentralized payment protocol built on Ethereum that enables anyone to request a payment for which the recipient can pay in a secure way. The project aims to replace traditional payment methods with a decentralized network that provides lower costs, enhanced security, and better interoperability.
Intended Utility
The primary purpose of Request is to serve as a payment infrastructure, allowing businesses and individuals to create, share, and fulfill payment requests in a decentralized manner. The REQ token is used for governance, network fees, and staking.
Actual Utility and Adoption
Request has demonstrated real-world adoption through partnerships with companies like Maker, Aave, and various e-commerce platforms. The protocol processes genuine payment transactions, with verifiable on-chain activity showing regular usage for business payments and invoicing.
Token Distribution and Governance
The token distribution shows a relatively balanced allocation: 15% to team and advisors (with vesting periods), 20% to early supporters, and 65% distributed through public sale and ecosystem development. The team has maintained consistent development activity since launch in 2017, with regular github commits and protocol updates.
Revenue Model
Request generates revenue through small network fees on payment processing, avoiding interest-based mechanisms. The protocol's business model focuses on facilitating legitimate commerce rather than speculative trading.
