Business Model and Implementation
RSV is collateralized by a basket of assets held in smart contracts, including USDC, USDP, and BUSD. The protocol maintains stability through algorithmic mechanisms and overcollateralization. The Reserve Protocol generates revenue through transaction fees and the spread between minting and redemption of tokens.
Real-World Adoption
RSV has seen limited adoption compared to other major stablecoins. Its primary use has been within the Reserve Protocol ecosystem, particularly in Latin American countries experiencing high inflation. The project has documented cases of actual usage for everyday transactions in Venezuela and Argentina.
Token Distribution and Governance
RSV tokens are created when users deposit collateral and destroyed when redeemed. There is no pre-mine or founder allocation for RSV tokens specifically, as they function purely as a stablecoin. The project's governance token (RSR) is separate from RSV.
