Rocket Pool ETH
Crypto Overview
Purpose and Utility
Rocket Pool ETH (rETH) is a liquid staking token that represents staked ETH in the Rocket Pool protocol. When users stake ETH through Rocket Pool, they receive rETH tokens that represent their staked position. The token automatically accrues staking rewards through its exchange rate with ETH.
Business Model
Rocket Pool operates as a decentralized ETH staking pool protocol. It allows users to participate in Ethereum staking with as little as 0.01 ETH. The protocol enables two types of participants: node operators who run validators and regular stakers who deposit ETH. The business model is based on providing staking services and distributing staking rewards.
Real-World Adoption
As of 2024, Rocket Pool has over $2.5B in Total Value Locked (TVL) and operates thousands of validators on the Ethereum network. The protocol has demonstrated consistent growth in both node operators and regular stakers.
Platform Development
The protocol maintains active development with regular updates and improvements. The development team consistently releases protocol upgrades and maintains transparency through their Github repository and community forums.
Token Distribution
rETH is minted when users stake ETH and burned when they withdraw, maintaining a direct backing to staked ETH. There was no initial token sale or founder allocation for rETH tokens.
