Shrapnel is a blockchain-based first-person shooter game that utilizes the SHRAP token as its native cryptocurrency. The project aims to create a AAA-quality extraction shooter game with player-owned assets and user-generated content capabilities.
Purpose and Utility
The SHRAP token serves multiple purposes within the Shrapnel ecosystem: governance rights for holders, in-game currency for purchasing items and upgrades, rewards for players and content creators, and staking mechanisms for accessing certain features.
Business Model and Implementation
The project is being developed by Neon Machine, a team of veteran game developers from companies like Xbox, Electronic Arts, and HBO. The game utilizes Avalanche blockchain technology for its asset management and transactions. The business model focuses on creating value through gameplay, digital asset ownership, and content creation - all legitimate activities from an Islamic finance perspective.
Development and Adoption
The project is currently in active development, with regular updates and progress reports. While the main game is not yet launched, the team has released early access modules and development tools. The project has secured partnerships with notable gaming and blockchain entities, including Avalanche and AMD.
Token Distribution and Governance
The token distribution includes allocations for development (30%), community rewards (25%), ecosystem growth (20%), and team/advisors (25%). Team tokens are subject to a vesting schedule, indicating measures against immediate dumping. The project maintains transparency in its token economics and development progress.
