Wrapped Minima (WMINIMA) is an ERC-20 token representation of the native MINIMA cryptocurrency from the Minima blockchain. The wrapped version allows MINIMA tokens to be used on the Ethereum network, enabling broader accessibility and integration with Ethereum's DeFi ecosystem.
Purpose and Utility
The primary purpose of WMINIMA is to serve as a bridge between the Minima and Ethereum ecosystems, allowing users to access Ethereum-based services while maintaining exposure to MINIMA. Each WMINIMA token is backed 1:1 by MINIMA held in custody.
Business Model and Operation
The wrapping process involves depositing MINIMA tokens with a custodian who then mints an equivalent amount of WMINIMA on the Ethereum blockchain. Users can unwrap their tokens at any time to receive the underlying MINIMA back.
Development and Adoption
The project maintains active development focused on ensuring secure bridge operations between the two blockchains. Current usage primarily revolves around trading and providing liquidity on Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges.
Token Distribution
The token supply of WMINIMA directly corresponds to the amount of MINIMA that users have chosen to wrap, making it a market-driven total supply.
